Fishing Not for Me is an attempt at collective fishing without fish. The act of extracting something to satisfy personal, economic, or recreational needs is replaced by playful and participatory actions that do not take away but instead offer. More specifically, the project activates a system of nourishment involving both human and non-human beings present within the “fishing area.” The image produced by this exercise is that of a fisherman who catches food for the fish without then taking advantage of them and eating them.

FABIO CAVALLARI
Fabio Cavallari is a chef at ABC Zattere and co-founder of Barena Bianca, an art and ecology collective established in 2018 in the Venetian Lagoon together with Pietro Consolandi. Through their work they seek to bring ecological and sociological issues to light, adopting the salt marsh (barena) as their emblem and embracing an affective approach grounded in love for nature as an antidote to climate depression. Their projects unfold primarily in public space through collaborative actions, workshops, and happenings, as well as occasional installations, videos, and photographic works.
