Museum as Carrier Bag, curated by Lisa Andreani, brings together artists, curators, researchers, and museum professionals to investigate the museum as a living organism in constant transformation. Structured as an extended meal unfolding across the museum’s different spaces, the symposium adopts the processes of ingestion, absorption, and digestion as a methodological framework, opening up a non-productive temporality shaped by waiting, transformation, and care. Through workshops, lectures, and informal exchanges—all organised around the sharing of a collective meal extended across time and space—the symposium explores the concepts of the living museum and the museum as a permanent draft. Particular attention is given to the practice of multispecies mediation, understood as an ecosystem in which human and more-than-human presences coexist through dynamics of interdependence that evoke forms of commensalism, mutualism, and parasitism.
