As part of his residency, Jacopo Giacomoni led a workshop of the Department of Parasitic Dramaturgy (DDP). Conceived as a collective inquiry into an imagined field of theatre studies devoted to “dramaturgical parasites,” the workshop explored textual species that inhabit and transform theatre-related texts—from actors’ lines to their contracts, from programme notes to directors’ rehearsal notes.
Through theoretical investigations and live experimentation, participants engaged with disciplines such as taxonomy, ethology, and parasitic palaeontology, searching for new species of dramaturgical parasites and examining how even “dying” texts, through the action of parasites, can give rise to new forms of life within the theatrical ecosystem.
