Opening
Scuola Piccola Zattere presents two new contemporary art and architecture projects: the solo exhibition by Gaëlle Choisne and the design by Fosbury Architecture for the new ABC Zattere restaurant.
French artist Gaëlle Choisne and Milan-based studio Fosbury Architecture are the protagonists of the program opening the new season at Scuola Piccola Zattere, with an inauguration scheduled for May 8 at 6 pm.
Temple of Love. Cœur is the title of the exhibition concluding Gaëlle Choisne’s research and production residency at Scuola Piccola Zattere, where the artist presents a new chapter in her ongoing exhibition series inspired by A Lover’s Discourse by Roland Barthes. Through an approach that combines multiple media, techniques, and materials, Choisne constructs a progressive, evolving narrative that gives shape to spaces of coexistence and collaboration, hospitality and care. Curated by Irene Calderoni and Eva Vaslamatzi, this chapter of the project weaves a generative dialogue between the works of the artist and a selection of works by Haitian artists, part of the collection of French writer and documentarian Jean Marie Drot.
Fosbury Architecture’s design for the new ABC Zattere restaurant continues the studio’s work in defining the functional and aesthetic qualities of the Scuola Piccola Zattere spaces, first presented in November 2024. Conceived in dialogue with the institution’s identity and programming, their project for the restaurant establishes continuity between interior and exterior, tradition and modernity, drawing inspiration from the city of Venice. Particular attention has been given to the redesign of the courtyard, envisioned as a gathering place for cultural and convivial events.
On the evening of May 8, the courtyard will host a music performance by Soñ Gweha, aka SOÑXSEED, a transdisciplinary artist and DJ based between Paris and Vienna. Their creative universe, influenced by Cameroonian heritage and Black/African diasporic mythologies, blends utopian, erotic, and spiritual imaginaries through music, analog DJing, video, performance, sculpture, and collective practices.
