In the lecture Patriarchy of Things, Tomaso De Luca presents, analyzes, and compares a varied and unusual collection of images, objects, architectures, historical events, and theories that reveal the complex network of connections between the material world and the functioning of ideologies. Through examples such as ornate pins used as improvised weapons, oppressive weaving machines, perverse modernist houses, cameras employed for "social hygiene", and medicines designed to prevent dissent, the artist demonstrates how the objects surrounding us are often sadly put to the service of colonial, sexist, racist, and imperialist models. However, the lecture primarily focuses on a series of strategies that openly oppose these models, showing us the infinite possibilities of an alternative world made up of rebellious objects and individuals in search of freedom.
